Buyer guide, published 18 October 2026

Crow, VWO, Unbounce, Optimizely or Typeform?

These tools solve different problems. Here is where each fits, what to check before you buy, and when your current setup might be enough.

We make Crow. This is a first-party guide, not independent advice. It is not a verified buyer shortlist; we have not validated this list against buyer interviews, active deals or win and loss research.

The options

Vendor pricing and billing terms are scheduled for manual review every 30 days. Each vendor has its own last-reviewed and next-due dates beside its sources. Always confirm current terms with the vendor. Pricing reviews do not rerun the historical audit benchmark.

CrowYou are responsible for page conversion and want one place to find the problem, make the change, test it and report it.For enterprise feature flagging, a CMS or a programme with several teams and engineering sign-off, look more closely at specialist platforms. This is our own product, so weigh that recommendation accordingly.
VWOTesting is a standing programme and you want a dedicated experimentation platform with visual and code editors, targeting and analytics. If publishing campaign pages is the main job, compare page builders as well. Check which workflow you need before choosing.
UnbouncePublishing campaign landing pages is the main job and A/B testing is a feature of that job.If your pages need to stay in another publishing platform, confirm integration and migration options first. Check which plan includes the testing and capacity you need.
OptimizelyA larger organisation with engineering support, running experiments across web and product. For a standalone page diagnosis, check whether a broader experimentation programme is what you need. Confirm the scope, implementation requirements and quote before committing.
TypeformThe conversion event is a form, survey or quiz and the experience of answering it matters.Auditing or building a whole landing page is a different job. We did not test Typeform as a page auditor.
Keep your existing stack or manual workflowYour current tools already publish, measure and report, and the real gap is time or a clear test plan rather than software. If findings never become changes, or nobody can say what a past change achieved, look at where the process breaks down. A new tool will not fix that on its own.

Pricing notes and vendor sources

Vendors use different currencies, billing terms and usage limits. Check the linked pages for current terms before comparing quotes.

Crow

Monthly or annual plans in AUD (Core, Pro, Full Suite by quote). See Crow’s plan details for current inclusions and limits.

Pricing and billing terms last reviewed . Next review due .

We make Crow, so this is a first-party view. Crow is not an enterprise feature-flagging or CMS platform.

VWO

Growth, Pro and Enterprise web experimentation plans, with demo and quote routes. Currency and billing term are not stated in this comparison; confirm both with the vendor.

Pricing and billing terms last reviewed . Next review due .

We have not priced a VWO plan like for like. Its free analyser is ecommerce-focused, which shapes the benchmark below.

Unbounce

USD per month. Starter $29 monthly or $22/mo billed annually. Experiment $149 monthly or $112/mo billed annually, with unlimited A/B testing. Plans carry page, traffic, user and domain limits.

Pricing and billing terms last reviewed . Next review due .

The cheapest builder plan is not an A/B testing equivalent. Limits vary by plan, so check traffic and domain caps.

Optimizely

Custom-packaged pricing. No public list price, so we show none. Currency and billing term depend on the quote; confirm both with the vendor.

Pricing and billing terms last reviewed . Next review due .

Scope is broader than a page audit, and pricing needs a conversation, so any price comparison would be invented.

Typeform

USD per month. Basic $39 monthly or $28/mo billed annually, with 100 responses a month. Business adds form drop-off and conversion tracking.

Pricing and billing terms last reviewed . Next review due .

Compare Typeform here as a forms and response workflow product. This comparison does not test it as a page auditor.

What to check before you buy

Work out who will make the changes, install tracking and review results. A product can suit the job and still be the wrong choice if your team cannot run it.

Price the plan your traffic, pages, users or responses actually need. Check the currency, billing term and what happens when you reach a limit.

Ask to see a sample report and find out what you can export if you leave. If your current tools already cover the work, a clearer process may be more useful than another subscription.

Open the printable vendor evaluation worksheet to record your own shortlist, requirements and answers during calls. No signup required.

  • Which plan includes the targeting and analytics I need?
  • Who installs and maintains the tracking?

Unbounce

  • Does my plan include A/B testing?
  • What happens when I pass the traffic or domain cap?

Optimizely

  • What is packaged in my quote and what is extra?

One page, three audit attempts

We attempted a three-way audit of the same ecommerce page. The comparison is incomplete, so it does not support a verdict or a claim about conversion lift. The Crow attempt used the current Ecommerce profile, not the proposed replacement scoring model.

Benchmark: one page, three audits

Question: What is holding this ecommerce page back, and what should its marketer fix first? Subject: GC Proteins homepage. Checked 18 October 2026. 2 of 3 outputs available.

Comparison method: Compare evidence accuracy, specificity, actionability and prioritisation against one retained page capture. Generic AI and Crow share that capture, but use different models, prompts and processing; this does not isolate the effect of Crow’s rubric. VWO’s remote capture is unverified and cannot qualify for a matched-capture verdict, even if the URL and date match.

Review the following ecommerce homepage as a conversion rate optimisation reviewer. What is holding the page back, and what should its marketer fix first? Give up to five prioritised recommendations, explain the visible evidence for each, and suggest a concrete change. Do not invent business results or missing content you cannot verify. Here’s a CRO review of the homepage based only on the captured evidence.

## What’s holding the page back

The page has strong raw ingredients for conversion — clear product category, repeated value props, visible social proof, and a primary CTA. But it appears to lose momentum at the point where a shopper should move from interest to purchase. The biggest issues are confusion, friction, and credibility gaps caused by inconsistent product/pricing signals and a homepage that doesn’t make the best next step obvious enough.

## What the marketer should fix first

**Fix the homepage’s primary purchase path first — especially the sample pack section showing as “Unavailable” and the inconsistent pricing/currency signals.**
That is the clearest visible blocker to conversion in the evidence.

---

# Prioritised recommendations

## 1) Fix the broken or confusing primary buying path
**Why this is priority one:**
The homepage appears to push shoppers towards trying the sample pack, but the featured product is shown as **“Unavailable”**. That creates immediate friction right where intent should convert.

**Visible evidence**
- “The sampler · single-serve”
- “Honestly? You'll love all three.”
- “Plant-Based Protein Powder Sample Pack – 3 Flavours”
- Button/control shown as **“Unavailable”**
- The page also shows both **“3 reviews”** and **“4.94 ★ ( 913 )”** around this area, which may add confusion about what exactly is being reviewed.

**What this likely does to conversion**
- Shoppers attracted by the low-risk trial option may hit a dead end.
- It weakens trust if the homepage promotes a product that cannot be bought.
- It forces users to backtrack and decide again instead of continuing smoothly.

**Concrete change**
- If the sample pack is in stock, replace **“Unavailable”** with a clear **“Add to cart”** or **“Try the sample pack”** CTA.
- If it is out of stock, remove it from the featured position on the homepage and replace it with an in-stock bestseller bundle or flavour.
- Add a clear fallback CTA beside it, such as **“Shop full-size flavours”**.
- Make sure the review count shown in that module refers clearly to that exact product, not the brand overall.

---

## 2) Resolve currency and pricing inconsistency
**Why this matters next:**
For an Australian brand selling to Australian shoppers, mixed currency signals can create hesitation and distrust at the exact moment users evaluate value.

**Visible evidence**
- The page title and copy strongly position the brand as Australian:
  - “Australian Plant Protein Powder”
  - “Made in Australia”
  - “Supporting local farmers”
  - “Horsham Vic 3400, Australia”
- Yet product prices in the captured text appear as **“$50.00 USD”** and **“$8.00 USD”**
- There is also a **“USD Region and language selector”**
- Elsewhere, the rendered comparison shows **“$9.99 AUD”** for the sample pack

**What this likely does to conversion**
- Australian visitors may question whether they are on the right regional store.
- Mixed AUD/USD pricing makes value harder to judge.
- It can create anxiety about checkout surprises.

**Concrete change**
- Default Australian visitors to **AUD** across the homepage and product cards.
- Remove or reduce prominence of the USD selector for local traffic.
- Ensure all homepage modules show the same currency consistently.
- If multi-currency is essential, add a small reassurance near pricing such as **“Prices shown in AUD for Australian customers”**.

---

## 3) Make the hero section more product-specific and action-oriented
**Why this matters:**
The hero currently communicates brand and broad benefits, but it could do more to help a first-time visitor understand exactly what to buy and why now.

**Visible evidence**
- Hero messaging includes:
  - “Train harder. Recover better.”
  - “Performance-grade plant protein made in Australia.”
  - “Shop Now”
  - “See All Flavours”
- Supporting proof points are present:
  - “4.9 ★ (900+ Reviews)”
  - “Free Shipping Over $150”
  - “Pure Protein Guarantee”
- But the hero CTA is broad rather than decision-guiding.

**What this likely does to conversion**
- New visitors may still need to work out whether to buy a full-size flavour, a sample pack, or a bundle.
- Generic CTAs like **“Shop Now”** often underperform more specific next steps when the range is small.

**Concrete change**
- Rewrite the hero CTA stack to match the most likely first purchase path:
  - Primary: **Try the 3-flavour sample pack**
  - Secondary: **Shop full-size flavours**
- Tighten the headline/subheadline around the differentiators already on page, for example:
  - **Australian-made plant protein with 34–35g per serve**
  - **No gums, no fillers, easier on the gut**
- Keep the review proof directly under the CTA.

---

## 4) Reduce message repetition and tighten the page hierarchy
**Why this matters:**
The homepage repeats similar claims many times, which can dilute impact and make scanning harder.

**Visible evidence**
Repeated themes appear across the page:
- “No gums • No fillers”
- “Australian Made”
- “Complete amino profile”
- “Free Shipping Over $150”
- “The cleanest protein you'll ever train with”
- Product names are also repeated in cards, for example:
  - “Chocolate Flavoured Protein Powder – Plant-Based Protein” appears multiple times

There are also several competing sections:
- Hero
- Why GCP
- Featured flavours
- Sample pack
- Watch & Buy
- Reviews
- Blogs
- Promo banner

**What this likely does to conversion**
- Important information becomes less persuasive when repeated without adding new proof.
- Users may struggle to identify the best next action.
- The page risks feeling longer and noisier than necessary.

**Concrete change**
- Consolidate repeated claims into one strong benefits block near the top.
- Shorten product card titles on the homepage to improve scanability, for example:
  - **Chocolate Plant Protein**
  - **Vanilla Plant Protein**
  - **Salted Caramel Plant Protein**
- Move blog content lower on the page so commercial intent sections come first.
- Keep one main CTA focus per section.

---

## 5) Strengthen trust by clarifying proof and guarantees
**Why this matters:**
The page makes strong claims such as “Zero bloat formula”, “Easy digestion guaranteed”, and “Pure Protein Guarantee”, but the evidence shown does not explain these in detail on the homepage.

**Visible evidence**
- Claims include:
  - “Zero bloat formula”
  - “Easy digestion guaranteed”
  - “Pure Protein Guarantee”
  - “If you can't pronounce it, it's not in here”
- Social proof is visible:
  - “4.9 ★ (900+ Reviews)”
  - “Let customers speak for us from 913 reviews”
- But there is no visible explanation in the captured text of what the guarantee covers or how it works.

**What this likely does to conversion**
- Strong claims without immediate clarification can create scepticism.
- Visitors may want reassurance on taste, returns, ingredients, or digestion before buying.

**Concrete change**
- Add a short explainer under **“Pure Protein Guarantee”**, such as what it means in practical terms.
- Pair key claims with proof cues:
  - ingredient list snippet
  - review snippet tied to digestion/taste
  - Australian-made or traceability badge
- If there is a returns or satisfaction policy, summarise it near the CTA and link to the full policy.

---

# Recommended order of fixes

1. **Fix the unavailable sample pack / broken featured purchase path**
2. **Standardise pricing and currency for Australian users**
3. **Refocus the hero on the best first purchase action**
4. **Simplify the page and reduce repeated messaging**
5. **Clarify guarantees and support claims with proof**

If you want, I can also turn this into a **homepage test plan** with hypotheses, variants, and what to measure first.

Sample pack offers single-serve options for each flavour, enabling variant exploration. 29 images present on page. 3 missing alt texts noted, but primary product imagery, lifestyle shots, and video content ('Watch & Buy', 'Know The Story') are rendered. Unverified images are not proven broken; visual coverage is substantial. Pricing is clearly displayed: featured products at $50. 00 USD, sample pack at $8. 00 USD (rendered) or $9. 99 AUD (text reference). Price per serve is addressed in copy ('More Protein for Your Money' section). Availability status is not clearly communicated for full-size products. Sample pack shows 'Unavailable' button state in rendered evidence, but stock status for main products (Chocolate, Vanilla, Salted Caramel at $50) is not explicitly stated on the homepage. Benefits are comprehensively articulated: 'No gums. No fillers. No nonsense. ', 'Complete Amino Profile', 'Kind To Your Gut' (zero bloat formula), 'Made in Australia', and 'More Protein for Your Money'. Five distinct benefit sections support the value proposition. Comparison information is not detected in the sampled evidence. No direct competitor comparison, side-by-side feature tables, or differentiation claims versus named alternatives are present on the homepage."

Quantity controls ('Decrease quantity', 'Increase quantity') are functional. Cart clarity is supported: 'Shipping calculated at checkout' messaging is present, indicating transparent cost disclosure. Cart button is accessible in header navigation. No evidence of hidden fees or unclear cart states. Checkout friction is minimised: 'Free Shipping Over $150' is prominently displayed, reducing friction for qualifying orders. 'Subscribe & save 15% every month' option is offered, providing alternative purchase paths. A prominent visible contact path is present (Contact); for this broader website, assess that route’s clarity and friction rather than treating the lack of an embedded form as a missing conversion path. Mobile purchasing is supported: viewport meta tag is correctly configured ('width=device-width,initial-scale=1'). Rendered page includes functional quantity controls and 'Add to cart' button. How we judge

  • Evidence accuracy: does the advice match what is actually on the captured page?
  • Specificity: does it identify concrete copy, controls or sections rather than generic advice?
  • Actionability: could a marketer make the recommended change without guessing what was meant?
  • Prioritisation: is there a defensible reason to make that change before the others?

Methodology and limits

  • A single public ecommerce homepage, selected to match the VWO analyser’s stated ecommerce focus. GC Proteins is not affiliated with this comparison.
  • This is a first-party editorial comparison, not an independent certification or a conversion-lift experiment.
  • The generic AI baseline uses an OpenAI API model, not a ChatGPT web subscription. Its exact prompt and model are disclosed.
  • The displayed generic answer and Crow report now use one identical fresh Chromium capture from 18 October 2026 at 11:57:22 UTC. The earlier generic answer and completed Crow report used different captures; those historical files are retained but are not the displayed pair. VWO receives the same URL, but its remote capture and timing are outside our control.
  • Both runs used the unchanged capture object with SHA-256 812e81b207abc4f3feeb3bcac29ab081ccbc030388e8567bb414081f3034134b. The full capture is archived privately in App Storage and its compressed bytes were downloaded and verified. The public generic request includes its exact structured evidence; Crow applies its own production evidence extraction, rubric, reviewed guidance, deterministic scoring and reconciliation to the same capture. This controls the source capture, not the models, prompts or processing.
  • Crow is tested with its current Ecommerce industry profile. This does not test the proposed replacement 40-check General scoring model.
  • No missing output is replaced with a sample. Tool failures and access requirements remain visible, and a three-way verdict is withheld unless all three outputs are available.
  • The shared Chromium capture took 22.1 seconds. The generic API request took 23.9 seconds and Crow’s pipeline took 47.4 seconds; these were sequential runs, not a service-speed benchmark. This captured session displayed USD; that does not establish what an Australian visitor would see. Currency, stock and review widgets can vary by session and location.
  • The generic prompt instructions are reproduced below; the shared structured capture was appended as JSON. The response is unedited and may contain mistaken assumptions, including treating product-level and store-wide review counts as inconsistent. Displaying it is not an endorsement of its advice.
  • Generic request settings: gpt-5.4 (returned gpt-5.4-2026-03-05), temperature 0, reasoning effort none, 8,192 maximum completion tokens, 90-second timeout and no retries. It completed normally using 4,599 input and 1,700 output tokens. The earlier historical baseline had a 5,000-token cap; this matched run uses 8,192. The downloadable response is the unedited API body, not a rewritten answer.
  • Crow request settings: claude-haiku-4-5, Ecommerce profile, temperature 0, 8,192 output tokens, 90-second request deadline within a 120-second generation-and-repair budget, no retries. The real provider request took 47.1 seconds, used 7,242 input and 4,601 output tokens, stopped normally and needed no repair. A unique run scope forced a fresh request through the normal persistent-cache pipeline; model, rubric, scoring weights, guidance and fingerprint rules were unchanged. Earlier attempts had timed out under the former 30-second text deadline; they are not presented as completed reports.
  • Crow’s download is the complete unedited pipeline result, not raw model text. A post-output transport observer could not retain the SDK’s raw response; both real outputs had already completed and neither was rerun or edited. The run manifest records this collection limitation and the provider diagnostics.
  • The completed Crow report is retained unedited, including limitations or potentially overstated claims. For example, captured cart and checkout links do not prove that checkout works; we did not place an order. The 85/100 score is Crow’s rubric output, not measured conversion performance or an endorsement of every recommendation.
  • The Crow run and generic API baseline were run in the development workspace. This is not a production service-availability or response-time comparison.

Verdict withheld. No winner declared: the generic API answer and a complete Crow report are available from the same capture, but no actual VWO answer was obtained. The three-way comparison remains incomplete. A matched two-tool run is not enough to compare all three approaches’ audit quality.
By Crow Editorial Team — first-party assessment. Not independent. One page is not proof of conversion lift.
